Everyone enjoys fast food, but which ones are rated the highest? Here are five food franchises that are among the most popular in the USA at the moment, with most having a global presence.

5: Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut is an American restaurant chain and international franchise, known for its Italian-American menu which includes pizza and pasta, side dishes and desserts. As of 2015, Pizza Hut has over 15,000 restaurants worldwide and is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands Inc, one of the world’s largest restaurant companies. It was founded in 1958 by Dan and Frank Carney.

4: Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts is an American global donut company and coffeehouse chain based in Canton, Massachusetts. It was founded in 150 by William Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts and has since grown to become one of the largest coffee and baked goods chains in the world, with more than 12,000 restaurants in 36 countries. The chain’s products include donuts, bagels and hot and iced beverages.

3: McDonald’s

McDonald’s is an American fast food chain founded in 1940 by Richard and Maurice McDonald. The first McDonald’s franchise opened in Phoenix in 1953 using the arches logo. Today, McDonald’s serves around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries across approximately 36,538 outlets. McDonald’s mainly sells hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken products, French fries, wraps, breakfast items, soft drinks, milkshakes and desserts.

2: Subway

Subway is a privately owned American fast food restaurant franchise that primarily sells submarine sandwiches (subs) and salads. It is owned by Doctors Associates Inc and is one of the fastest growing franchises in the world, with 44,852 restaurants in 112 countries, with the United States alone having 26,646 restaurants.  

1: Jimmy John’s

Jimmy John’s Franchise is a sandwich restaurant chain, specialising in delivery. It was founded by Jimmy John Liautaud in 1983 and headquartered in Champaign, Illinois. In 30 years, the company has grown to more than 2,500 restaurants in 46 states, with 200 restaurants opening in the last three years.
