While you can’t completely erase the everyday stresses at your office place, you most certainly can chop away at the block by visiting your favorite local day spa. After wrapping up the July issue, I was in desperate need of a day off packed with sun, pampering, and excellent customer service and cuisine. Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona, CA was the first thing to come to mind.
About an hour away from San Diego, and tucked away from the 15 FWY and surrounded by the Santa Ana Mountain Range is an oasis in the middle of a bustling county. Glen Ivy Hot Springs is known for its mineral baths, therapeutic red clay mud bath, lounge pools, underground grotto treatment, and spa treatments on its 11 acres of lush greenery.
If you’re in Southern California for business or pleasure, I highly recommend spending the day at Glen Ivy and starting out with a 10-minute soak in the 104° Mineral Baths that naturally heals your ailing limbs. Next, walk over to Club Mud when you can slather on some red clay that will absorb any impurities and exfoliate dead skill cells once dry to revitalize your skin.
For even more of a purifying treatment, make an appointment at The Grotto where you’ll take an elevator underground to a granite cave room. A spa attendant will coat your skin with a luxurious and thick blend of aloe vera, shea butter, coconut oil, and other elements before you want into a warm chamber to rest for about 10 minutes while your body reaps the benefits. Walk to the next chamber to rinse off your masque under a multi-headed granite shower before drying off and spending a few moments in the cool mist chamber.
After a morning of rehydrating and relaxing, you must stick around for lunch at Café Solé and allow award-winning Chef Bill Wavrin to treat your taste buds with healthy dishes from local farmers and ranchers. The Ahi Hawaiian Poke Salad was refreshing and offered wild caught Ahi Tuna tossed in Hawaiian vinaigrette with avocado, toasted almonds, seaweed salad and sesame seeds on a bed of zesty greens.
