Performance Proven Metal Products For Roof, Wall & Edge

Established in 1994, Atlanta-based Innovative Metals Company, Inc. (IMETCO®) manufactures high-performance metal roof, wall and edge products. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Garland Industries, IMETCO operates independently, and is a recognized leader in the metal roofing industry. The company offers a full range of standing seam metal roofing systems, metal wall panels, fascia and coping systems, along with a variety of accessories. It is committed to providing only the highest quality of products, backed by comprehensive project support.

According to IMETCO’s President, Joe Orlando, the company currently markets its products and services across the nation. Though the majority of its market concentration still lies east of the Mississippi, IMETCO has begun to grow more of its business in the southwest, having already opened a second manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

PRODUCTS & SERVICES:
IMETCO’s signature product is the Series 300® Standing Seam Metal Roof system. Ideally suited for both new construction & retrofit applications anywhere in the country, this system provides superior resistance to wind and water infiltration. Series 300 brings timeless elegance, proven performance, strength and versatility to any building in any location. Available in a wide variety of colors, materials & gauges, this roofing system is adaptable to suit project-specific demands for design and performance. This product is further distinguished by value-added services and specialty manufacturing capabilities, such as curving, tapering, field-forming, and factory production of long panels.

In addition to this flagship system, IMETCO offers a full line of metal products including additional roofing systems, a wide range of wall panels, and engineered fascia and coping systems. This full complement of offerings makes IMETCO a single-source supplier to customers using metal across the entire building envelope.

An in-house engineering team provides project support, and a dedicated auto-CAD department produces custom project-specific shop drawings. Project Managers work as an extension of the customer’s organization and serve as a single point of contact to streamline the procurement and delivery of materials to accommodate even the most aggressive installation schedules.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE:
IMETCO serves a unique niche by designing & manufacturing complete systems in the shortest possible timeframe, which are engineered to the projects’ requirements. According to customer feedback, IMETCO possesses a unique ability to offer a complete superior-quality solution, and deliver a highly-customized system. Its engineering and project support teams provide a number of value-added services to help bring design concepts to life, and to help ensure systems are properly installed to perform as intended.

PARTNERSHIPS:
IMETCO has formed quite a few mutually-beneficial partnerships over the years, leveraging the unique strengths of its trusted affiliates to further enhance its own offerings.

For instance, it teamed with Martin Fireproofing (www.martinfireproofing.com), manufacturer & installer of specialty roof deck products, to offer the Series 300® & Perform-A-Deck® Complete Metal Roof and Deck Assembly — an integrated, performance-inspired roof and deck assembly that essentially ‘raises the bar’ on roofing system performance for building owners across the country. As a hurricane and tornado enhanced roofing assembly, this system is engineered and tested to resist extreme winds and debris impact, as recommended by the “FEMA 361 Design and Construction Guidance for Community Safe Rooms.” It can withstand wind speeds of more than 250 mph, wind uplift pressures up to 550 psf, and is impervious to water infiltration. So strong is the company’s confidence in the performance of this product, that the total system is covered by a 20-year single-source warranty.

IMETCO has also teamed with industry leader, Jarden Zinc (www.jardenzinc.com) to provide United Zinc, the only domestic architectural zinc, offered exclusively through IMETCO. As a result, the company is uniquely able to provide its customers with high-quality zinc products in shorter lead-times, while maintaining environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS:
IMETCO supports sustainability and green-building efforts through is metal products. The reflectivity and emissivity of painted metal combines to reduce the “Heat Island Effect” in urban areas, and to lower operating costs for heating a cooling the building. Orlando explains, “Metal roofing and walls have long been accepted as products that improve the energy efficiency of buildings. Cool metal roofing can offer dramatic environmental and fiscal impact.”

A product’s recycled content and its end-of-life recyclability are also important environmental considerations. “Much of the metal we use to form our panels is not only recyclable, but already contains recycled content.” Orlando adds, “metal is an ideal product for buildings seeking LEED certification.” IMETCO metal products can contribute to earning credits through the USGBC’s LEED program in the areas of Heat Island Effect, Recycled Content, Regional Materials, and Construction Waste Management.

With future possibilities in-mind, IMETCO has also designed and produced a selection of panels that allow for the addition of photovoltaic panels either during or after the initial installation. Panels are engineered to properly support thin-film solar panels, which can be adhered directly into the pans of the roofing panels either during installation or at a later date.

FOR THE FUTURE:
In addition to further developing its Albuquerque operation and expanding field representation out towards the West coast, IMETCO is also reviewing options for a new facility in Atlanta in order to add capacity and accommodate the company’s growth.
